May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Individuals with a mental health disorder smoke at higher rates than the general population. Due to their underlying mental health disorder, they may have a more difficult time quitting smoking and are more likely to relapse. There are options for treating this population to quit smoking, including counseling, behavioral therapy, and medications.

The Indiana Tobacco Quit line has specific services to address Mental Health and Tobacco cessation. During the program participants who identify as having a mental health issue can receive 12 weeks of free NRT. This is in addition to a personal quit coach and much more. Visit www.quitnowindiana.com for more information.
